Building Contractor License

 

There are three different licenses for Building Contractors.

 

Limited Contractor License: entitles you to apply siding, roofing, replace windows or construct a deck or carport in or on any residential structure.  You are required to carry Comprehensive General Liability Insurance in the amount of $100,000 minimum and Workers’ Compensation.  This must be submitted by your agent with a clause providing for notice to the Code Administration not less than 10 days prior to any cancellation.  The fee for a Limited Contractor License is $25.

 

Residential Contractor Licenses: entitles you to build, repair, remodel or add to any residential structure including garages and storage sheds.  You must provide a certificate of competency from a nationally recognized testing institution and you are required to carry Comprehensive General Liability Insurance in the amount of $300,000 minimum and Workers’ Compensation.  This must be submitted by your agent with a clause providing for notice to the Code Administration not less than 10 days prior to any cancellation.  The fee for a Residential Contractor License is $50.

 

General Contractor License: entitles you to build, repair, remodel or add to any residential or non-residential structure. You must provide a certificate of competency from a nationally recognized testing institution and you are required to carry Comprehensive General Liability Insurance in the amount of $500,000 minimum and Workers’ Compensation.  This must be submitted by your agent with a clause providing for notice to the Code Administration not less than 10 days prior to any cancellation.  The fee for a Residential Contractor License is $100.
