Community Cam

Cameras That Link a Community Together

Help solve crime and protect your neighborhood by registering your security camera(s) with the Junction City Police Department. The goal of the Community Cam program is to deter crime and promote public safety through collaboration between our Officers and the community we serve.

Junction City Police Department Community Cam is a voluntary program for residents and business owners to register their Junction City address as a location that operates a video surveillance system. This registry allows officers to readily identify known locations throughout Junction City that have video surveillance systems to aid police with criminal investigations.

Privacy

There is no way police can see the footage without the video being handed over by the owner. This program is simply a registry to let us know you have a video surveillance system.

Residents and business owners can opt-in and opt-out at anytime.

Information to Provide

Those who decide to register their security camera(s) will give their basic information along with how many security cameras they have. The personal information you share with us is completely confidential. The Junction City Police Department will have a list of security cameras around Junction City and will be able to access that list during an investigation.

If a crime occurs in the vicinity of where your camera(s) is registered, a Detective or Officer will contact you and ask if your camera(s) picked up anything relevant to the investigation. The homeowner or business registered with the Junction City Police Department would then have the option to voluntarily give Officers the video to help with the investigation.

Anonymity

In the event that your video captures a suspect in a case, we may provide a still photo or portion of the video to the media or post it to social media in an effort to help identify the suspect. Who provided the video or where the video was taken would not be released.

An Asset to the Police Department

Security camera footage is an invaluable asset to our department, helping to establish leads and identify suspects. Registering your camera(s) with the Junction City Police Department not only helps to deter crime, but it also assists the Junction City Police Department in its overall crime prevention strategy. Similar programs have already taken root with other agencies across the nation, with countless success stories of how this program has helped their communities.

Cost

There is no cost associated with the registration of your security camera(s).
