In 1998, we were the first EMS organization in the State of Kansas to implement the EMT-Intermediat level advanced initiatives, allowing our EMT-intermediates to perform endotracheal intubation and administer Albuterol in the field. We continue the trend today, allowing our AEMT's to operate at the full scope of the AEMT.
The Junction City Fire Department has a progressive emergency medical service protocols, and equipment.
- Adult and pediatric intraosseous infusion

- Cricothyrotomy or surgical airway
- Rapid sequence intubation

Our paramedics also provide advanced life support by having the ability to administer 27 different emergency medications, as well as provide cardiac defibrillation and transcutaneous pacing.
JCFD provides continuing education needed to keep EMS Skills current. Members of the department are KBEMS Qualified Instructor Coordinators.
