Junction City, Kansas. — The City of Junction City announces that the boil water advisory for residents west of Jackson Street has been lifted, and normal water use may resume immediately.
The advisory was originally issued after a waterline break caused a temporary loss of pressure in the distribution system. Loss of pressure can compromise chlorine levels and increase the potential for bacterial contamination. Out of an abundance of caution, the City notified affected residents while crews worked quickly to restore system pressure and complete necessary repairs.
After repairs were completed, the City collected water samples and submitted them to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) laboratory for testing. Test results confirmed there was no bacteriological contamination, and all conditions that placed the system at risk were fully resolved.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) reviewed the test results and issued a press release formally rescinding the boil water advisory for the affected area.
“We appreciate the community’s patience during this process,” said Public Information Officer, Katherine O’Shea. “Our crews responded immediately to address the issue, and we are pleased to confirm that the water is safe and the system has returned to normal operation.”
