Contractor License

Any person desiring to perform contracting work in the City of Junction City and/or Geary County shall obtain a license with the City of Junction City. 

Application

To apply for a new contractor license you will need to submit the following: 

  • Application
  • Certificate of Competency
  • Copy of Driver's License
  • Picture for ID Card (JPG or PNG file, this picture can also be taken in the office)
  • 6 hours of continuing education within the previous calendar year
  • Copy of Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
  • Copy of Workers' Compensation

Renewal

If you wish to renew your license with the City of Junction City you will need to submit the following: 

  • Application
  • Copy of Driver's License (if copy on file has expired)
  • Updated picture for ID Card (JPG or PNG file, this picture can also be taken in the office) 
  • 12 hours of continuing education (every 2 years)
  • Copy of Comprehensive General Liability Insurance
  • Copy of Workers' Compensation

License Types & License Fees

This license shall entitle the holder thereof to perform work as a contractor while building, remodeling, and adding to or repairing any structure or addition thereto that is residential, non-residential, multi-residential, and all commercial as defined in the most current edition of the International Code Council’s, Building Code adopted as the Building Code of the City of Junction City, Kansas.

$200.00 biennial fee

This license shall entitle the holder thereof to perform work as a contractor while building, remodeling, and adding to or repairing any structure or addition thereto that is residential, non-residential, multi-residential, and all commercial under three (3) floors above grade as defined in the most current edition of the International Code Council’s, Building Code adopted as the Building Code of the City of Junction City, Kansas.

$200.00 biennial fee

This license shall entitle the holder thereof to perform work as a contractor as defined in this article while building, remodeling or repairing a structure or addition thereto that is a one- or two-family dwelling or a townhouse, defined in the most current edition of the International Code Council’s, Building, Residential and property Management Code adopted as the Building Code of the City of Junction City, Kansas.

$100.00 biennial fee

This license shall entitle the holder thereof to perform work as a contractor while building, remodeling, and adding to or repairing any structure or addition thereto that is residential, non-residential, multi-residential, and all commercial under three (3) floors above grade as defined in the most current edition of the International Code Council’s, Building Code adopted as the Building Code of the City of Junction City, Kansas.

$200.00 biennial fee

This license shall entitle the holder thereof to perform work as a contractor as defined in this article while building, remodeling or repairing a structure or addition thereto that is a one- or two-family dwelling or a townhouse, defined in the most current edition of the International Code Council’s, Building, Residential and property Management Code adopted as the Building Code of the City of Junction City, Kansas.

$100.00 biennial fee

A contractor whose operations as such are the performance of construction work requiring special skill and whose principal contracting business involves the use of specialized building trades or crafts.

(1) Communications Industry; Cellular, Telephone, Media, Radio

(2) Industrial specific specialized construction that requires an Engineer of a specific discipline
